Omved, the owners of the old garden centre , have announced the establishment of Omved Gardens (www.omvedgardens.com) on the site. They have told us that they want to use it as a centre for horticultural and artistic activity, with a strong emphasis on food, particularly the UN World Food Programme. They are landscaping and have renovated the old glass structure which housed the shop. They mounted an exhibition there starting May 26th which was open to the public from 12 to 5.30 each day entitled ‘Feeding Dreams’ with a WFO presentation and art exhibits . There was Japanese music on May 28 and a Schubert Quintet performance on June 4th. This marks an apparent change from their previous plans for housing on the site and it links with elements of our vision. Tell us what you think. We are talking to the owners and will pass on ideas.
